Patterns and Motifs

This hands-on program takes a close look at patterns from around the world! We will begin our journey discussing what symbols, or motifs, are and how they are designed. After creating self expressive motifs of our own, we will build patterns and experiment with various traditional pattern grids. Many types of patterns exist in the world around us, this program focuses on all-over patters, frieze patterns, patterns on fabric and offers an introduction to geometric patterns.
